Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. (TSE:6752) said Wednesday that it has earmarked 123 billion yen (US$1.1 billion) to more than triple its global production capacity for lithium ion batteries for notebook computers and other devices to more than 900 million units a year by fall 2011.
